29 ‘junkies’ arrested in targeted raids on drug dens at Kamanga, Madison, Kasisi, others

The Zambia Police and officers of the Drug Enforcement Commission have conducted an operation in Lusaka in which 29 drug addicts known as ‘junkies’ were arrested.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, in a statement issued on Saturday in Lusaka said the operation which was conducted on April 28, 2023 between 08:00 hours and 18:00 hours, targeted drug dens in Kamanga, Madido, Kasisi, Ng’ombe, Kaunda Square stage 1 and 2.

Mwale said that 15 of the suspects including one female were found with large quantities of psychotropic drugs (sachets of Heroine and Cannabis).

He said the suspects are aged between 18 and 52.

“The other suspects aged between 16 and 37 including one female, are detained in Police custody charged with the offence of Idle and Disorderly,” Mwale said.
