93 women among beneficiaries, as Namwala council disburses about K2 million under CDF projects

Close to K2 million under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has been disbursed to beneficiaries by the Namwala Town Council, marking its completion of the distribution under the fund for 2022.

The funds have been disbursed to 93 women, youth and community clubs and cooperatives under the 2022 CDF Empowerment Grant, says Namwala Town Council’s Socio – Economic Planner, Portia Nakaanda.

“The district has completed the disbursement of funds for all four quarters of 2022.

“The SEP provided the following breakdown of beneficiaries, disbursed amounts, and project types for the 2022 CDF Empowerment Grant, from the first to the fourth quarter,” Nakaanda said in a statement issued on Monday.

She explained that during the first Quarter of 2022, K487,000.00 was disbursed on August 26, 2022, to 26 women, youth and community clubs and cooperatives.

The following were some of the many beneficiaries from the first quarter disburse: Nachuumbwa Farmers (Mbeza Ward): K40,000 – Dairy Animals, Koonje Women’s Club (Namakube Ward): K20,000 -Goat Rearing, Twaange Women’s Club (Katengwa Ward): K20,000 – Sheep Rearing andTupone Nalumba Clube (Chitongo Ward): K20,000 – Piggery.

During the second quarter, Nakaanda said, K485,000.00 was disbursed on October 7, 2022, to 21 women, youth and community clubs and cooperatives.

She said some beneficiaries included Mayusa Women’s Club (Itapa Ward): K40,000 – Oil Extractor Business, Munyawangombe Multipurpose Cooperative (Itapa Ward): K15,000 – Chicken Rearing Business, New Zuma Club (Ichila Ward): K40,000 – Cattle Feedlot Business and Masele Widows (Namwala Central): K20,000 – Incubator.

“Others are: Masele Multipurpose Cooperative Society (Namwala Central): K20,000 – Goat Rearing Business, Everest Women’s Club (Namwala Central): K15,000 – Poultry Business, Namayovu Women’s Dream (Namakube Ward): K40,000 -Hammer Mill and Chikamba Women’s Club (Moobola Ward): K20,000 – Cattle Rearing Business, among others,” Nakaanda said.

She also said in the third quarter 2022, CDF Empowerment Grant, K485,000.00 was disbursed on November 28, 2022, to 22 women, youth and community clubs and cooperatives.

“In the fourth quarter of 2022 CDF Empowerment Grant: K480,000.00 was disbursed on February 28, 2023, to 24 Women. and Community Clubs and Cooperatives,” Nakaanda said.
