Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Rose Sakala, has urged diplomats to embrace President Hakainde Hichilema’s call for increased economic diplomacy.
Sakala said this was in order to increase benefits from the Embassy’s interaction with the international community to set the country on the right path of social and economic development for the benefit of the country.
She said this during an in-house workshop at the Zambian Embassy in Ethiopia on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by Inutu Mwanza, the First Secretary for Press and Tourism at the Zambian Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Sakala said that while the President was the vision carrier, it was important that the diplomats joined him by becoming active implementors of his vision, particularly economic diplomacy.
“For only then can we prosper our country and uplift the socio-economic well being of our people back home,” she said.

Sakala said it was imperative that Zambian diplomats embrace economic diplomacy and ensure that Zambia reaps benefits from international relations to enhance good business, trade and investment with the outside world.
She said it was important that the Embassy held in-house trainings so that the Mission can focus on specific and targeted goals that were of economic benefits to the country.
“It was time that Zambia harnessed benefits from countries where it was represented,” Sakala said.
