Body of crocodile victim found floating on River Kafue

Members of the community have after a prolonged search found the body of a woman in Kitwe’s Chipata township who was attacked by a crocodile on the banks of the Kafue River.

It was reported that she went to fetch water in the Kafue river where she met her fate.

Copperbelt police chief Peacewell Mweemba confirmed Sara Mumba’s body was found floating on the river after she was attacked on Sunday morning.

Mweemba,in a statement said the deceased was found near Zambia township by some residents who conducted a search on the river using canoes.

“Ms Mumba 30 of Chipata township was caught by a crocodile on the banks of the river and the deceased was retrieved from the river after a continued search by the community members,” he said.

After the body was retrieved it was observed that the deceased had some marks on her right leg where she was caught by the crocodile.

Mweemba said some marks which she sustained from the attack were also seen on her stomach and shoulder.
