President Hichilema fires Inspector General of Police, Kajoba, others

President Hakainde Hichilema has fired Inspector General (IG) of Police,Lemmy Kajoba , and appointed Graphel Musamba as the new Inspector General of Police.

Hichilema has also relieved Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for Administration Doris Nayame Chibombe from her duties, awaiting re-deployment and he has since appointed Alita Mbahwe, former Commissioner, Drug Enforcement Commission as Deputy Inspector General of Police as Administration.

According to statement issued by Brian Mwiinga, the State House Press Analyst on Friday in Lusaka, the Head of State has also transferred, Yvone Mpundu, Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise to the Ministry of Agriculture as Permanent Secretary for Administration.

Meanwhile, Hichilema has terminated the contracts of four Permanent Secretaries, namely Wisdom Bwalya, Perpetual Mphande Chuulu, Danny Mfune and John Msimuko.

He has also transferred Chembo Mbula, Permanent Secretary for Administration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to Cabinet Office as Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, whereas, Chilufya Darko, Permanent Secretary at Cabinet Office and Professor Lackson Kasonka, Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Health, will be re-deployed.

The Head of State has since appointed Naomi Tetamashimba, Permanent Secretary for Special Duties at Cabinet Office, Hope Situmbeko, Permanent Secretary for Administration in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Lillian Bwalya as Permanent Secretary for Administration in the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry.

Others appointed are Subeta Mutelo as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Dr. Christopher Simoonga as Permanent Secretary for Administration in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hapenga Kabeta as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development.

Prof Albert Malama has been appointed as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Douty Chibamba as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment.

Hichilema thanked all the former senior government officials who have been relieved of their duties for their individual contribution to the nation and wished them well in their future endeavours.
