The Central Bank says it has commenced the process of distributing claims to investors swindled by Destiny Helpers International.

Besnat Mwanza, the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) Assistant Director for Communications,  in a statement issued on Friday in Lusaka said up to 300 claimants will be paid per day.

Mwanza said in line with the Court order of 10 August 2022, the payments are being made from seized funds held in various DHI bank accounts, amounting to over K1million and US$19,000.

She said as announced in the Central Bank’s earlier Notice, there are 4,893 duly verified claimants that the Bank has received.

“Given the large number of the claimants, the Bank will make the payments in a phased manner and shall follow the order in which the verified claims were received,” Mwanza said.

She advised that initial payments to the verified claimants are being made via mobile money from the amounts seized from the Kwacha accounts, amounting to over K1million.

Mwanza said subsequent payments from the seized US Dollar account will be made subject to the release of the funds to the Bank of Zambia.

“The Bank will continue to keep the public updated on any further developments on this matter,” she said.
