Covid-19 protocols re-enforced in Chongwe,as cases surge

Chongwe Municipal Council has started re-enforcing the Covid-19 preventive measures to respond to surging cases of the Covid-19 outbreak.

This follows the report from the Ministry of Health on the rise in numbers of new Covid-19 cases which is spreading at a steady rate.

“In view of the above the Local Authority, will from now on resume the compliance monitoring processes in all public places Including Markets and Bus stations, in order to ensure adherence to the Covid19 Preventive Measures,” Chongwe council public relations officer Cecilia Musonda said.

Musonda said measures would include wearing of face masks, observing social distance, frequent hand wash or use of hand sanitizer, avoid unnecessary movements and overcrowding public places.

The local authority advised the general public to observe hygienic practices which includes bending elbow when coughing in public places, avoiding handshakes and hugs, cooking food properly among others.

She said Council would intensify restrictive mechanisms to monitor compliance in all public places in a bid to fight further spread of the pandemic.
