Drug Enforcement Commission arrests two Zambians for trafficking in cocaine

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested two Zambian nationals for drug trafficking.

Public Relations Officer, Hussein Khan, said the Commission in Lusaka has formally jointly charged and arrested Masauso Mbao, a male aged 43 of Kitwe and Sunday Simuntala, a male aged 23 also of Kitwe for Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs.

This is contained in a statement issued in Lusaka on Saturday.

Khan has identified the Narcotic Drugs as 3.2 kilogrammes of cocaine which is contrary to section 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act No. 35 of 2021 of the Laws of Zambia.

He said the duo were apprehended in a special operation conducted at Lusaka’s Downtown Shopping Mall.

“They are detained in lawful custody and will appear in court soon,” Khan said.
