Four die in Kitwe-Chingola road accident

Four people are reportedly dead after being involved in a fatal road accident along Kitwe-Chingola Road.

The four, according to police, were passengers in vehicle that was hit by another moving truck from the opposite direction.

Of the four passengers reported dead, two have been identified as Arnold Katwishi, 36, and Kapito Sailasi, 31, both of Masansa area in Mkushi.

The other two are yet to be identified.

Copperbelt Police Chief, Peacewell Mweemba, said in a statement on Monday that a Hino truck registration BLA 7118ZM, which was driven by Shadrick Katwishi was hit by a truck with registration number T412 EAL, T886 BHC, which was coming from the opposite direction.

“The accident happened after the driver of the other truck identified as Omari Juma Salum 38 overtook incorrectly,” Mweemba said.

He said the two drivers were receiving treatment at the hospital after sustaining injuries.

Meanwhile, Mweemba said the drivers would be charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
