Hichilema back from Namibia, says dialogue key to addressing SADC challenges

President Hakainde Hichilema says dialogue is key in resolving the many challenges the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region is facing.

President Hichilema said it was important to give chance to dialogue among other resolutions in addressing the challenges the region was facing.

He said this on his return from the SADC summit Organ on Politics, Defence and Security in Windhoek, Namibia on Tuesday.

President Hichilema was in Namibia for the SADC summit Organ meeting at the invitation of Namibian President Hage Geingob.

“We have concluded the emergency Extraordinary Summit of the Troika of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security in Windhoek, Namibia.

“We place peace and security top of our agenda because instability anywhere is instability everywhere. The citizens of SADC look to us to safeguard the peace and stability of the region,” he said this on his official social media handle.

At the end of the summit, the President said it was resolved in a joint communique that dialogue be given a chance among other resolutions in addressing the challenges the region was encountering.

 

“We have since departed for Zambia and we thank our host and current Chairperson of the Troika, His Excellency Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia for his hospitality,” he said.
