Fredrick Kapasa 28, a Community Crime Prevention Officer (CCPU) of Kalulushi,has been arrested and detained for a charge of rape.

Copperbelt Police Chief Peacewell Mweemba said Kapasa was arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old student whom he detained after coming from a birthday party.

The incident happened on Sunday around 02:00 hours at Chibuluma Police post on the Copperbelt .

He said the victim of Kitwe’s Bulangililo township studying general education at Katembula College reported that she was raped by Kapasa
.
Brief facts were that the victim in company of four others was coming from a birthday party around 01:30 hours going to her mother in Chibote township using a private car.

“When they reached near Chibuluma Police Post, the driver said he was not going to reach Chibote as he parked the vehicle at the police post and so he dropped the victim with four others,” he said.

Mweemba said on their way to Chibote, two CCPU officers followed them but only managed to apprehend the victim while her friends escaped.

The victim was taken to the police post where she was detained.

Mweemba said after seven minutes, Kapasa who apprehended her followed
the victim and forced himself on her.

The victim sustained painful private parts and stomach.

The suspect was detained in custody waiting for the doctors’ findings.
