Mpali bags ‘Best Original Telenovela’ award at AMVCAs

Zambia’s television series drama, Mpali has won the ‘Best Original Telenovela’ at the ninth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs).

The awards were held in Nigeria and on behalf of the Mpali team Shakira SaeedSaeed, who acts on the role of Tamara collected the award.

The Mpali series is widely broadcasted on cable network channels Zambezi magic, known for its drama, culture, comedy and realistic aspects of a man with seven wives.

It is true to say that Frank Sibuuku the creator of Mpali, has amassed great experience from scripting the Red bag film, to now an international award winning serie Mpali.

The award is pure testimony of the development that the Zambian film industry has gained over the past decade.

Many have said that this is a good step forward in ensuring that the industry is heading in the right direction.

Meanwhile, Zambian singer Macky 2 has won the Best Unscripted Original award, for his TV show King Buga at AMVCA in Nigeria.

The King Bugar chronicles, which launched last year, takes viewers on how Macky 2 manages his brand and relates to the business world, while also showing us his softer side, introducing the audience to his family life.

It’s a real story of transformation and hope, about a man who is living the dream.

Viewers have also been treated to witness appearances from some of Zambia’s heavy weights such as Chef 187, Ben Lombe, Welsey Chibambo, Yo Maps and many more.

From fan surprises to family dinners and hometown visits, King Bugar has attracted many locals with a popular effect to it.

After receiving the award Macky 2 was greatfull of his team for the achievement.

“For me and the team this an incredible achievement.. and its really the magic of unscripted storytelling, we move on and continue to work hard to put Zambia on the map,” he said.
