The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has named Kabwe Warriors coach Numba Mumamba as the head gaffer to lead an all local Chipolopolo squad that will play Kuwait in an international friendly slated for June 12, 2023 in Egypt.

The game is part of the build-up for the 2023 COSAFA Cup, which will be played in July in Durban.

With the Kuwait friendly coinciding with the Chipolopolo’s AFCON qualifier against Ivory Coast, Numba will lead a technical bench consisting of Power Dynamos coach Mwenya Chipepo, and his Green Buffaloes counterpart Masautso Tembo.

Meanwhile, FAZ has unveiled a 30-member all-local provisional squad that will play Kuwait.

“FAZ aims to expose the local players to competitions such as COSAFA to build a strong local assemblage that will compete in continental competitions such as the African Nations Championship (CHAN),” the association said in a statement on Saturday.

As the defending COSAFA champions, Zambia will compete in Group B and will tackle Malawi and two Islanders, Seychelles and Comoros at the regional tournament in July.
