Patriotic Front names new office bearers, as party unsure of elective general conference

The Patriotic Front (PF) elective General Conference which was slated for next month is in limbo as there are still a number of issues that need to be put in place before the conference is held.

PF vice president, Given Lubinda, said the party was yet to sit down to discuss the sequence of when the elective General Conference and the Constitutional Conference would take place.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka on Monday, Lubinda who was party acting president said he does not see the party holding it’s elective General Conference and Constitution conference between now and October 28, 2023.

He said the elective General Conference can only take place after the Constitutional Conference.

“I also wish to announce to you that the party Central Committee has appointed Raphael Nakacinda as Party Secretary General with Emmanuel Mwamba elevated to Chairperson for Information and Publicity from his earlier position of a deputy,” Lubinda said.

He said others appointed were Kawambwa Member of Parliament Nixon Chilangwa as Deputy Secretary General for Policy Strategy, former Kabushi Member of Parliament (MP) Bowman Lusambo as Deputy Chairperson for Mobilisation.

“Former Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defense, Sturdy Mwale, is now Copperbelt Provincial Chairperson and Nathan Chanda has been moved to Deputy Chairman, National Guidance and National Affairs,” Lubinda said.
