Police nab Kaputa witchdoctor for allegedly raping woman seeking pregnancy

A witch doctor in the rural town of Kaputa in Northern province has reportedly been arrested by the police for a allegedly raping a client.

The police identified Saidi Mulenga, 30, as the witch doctor who allegedly forced himself on the woman on the pretext that the act will aid her in conceiving.

Northern Province Police Chief, Gloria Mulele, said in a statement on Sunday that police in Kaputa district have arrested a witchdoctor accused of raping 21-year-old woman on two occasions.

“The woman, 21, went to seek treatment to help her conceive and the police has identified the witch doctor as Saidi Mulenga, 30 a Congolese national to be the perpetrator,” Mulele stated.

Facts before the police are that on May 14, 2023, the woman was taken to the witch doctor by her husband after facing difficulties with conceiving.

The witchdoctor had carnal knowledge of the victim without her consent on May 16, 2023 around 17:00 and May 19, 2023, at 09:00 hours when she went for treatment.

Mulele stated that police officers rushed to the scene where Mulenga was arrested after receiving a report.

Police then issued a medical report to the victim as investigations in the matter intensified.
