President Hichilema said despite challenges, there was need to redesign drainages and relocate people to safer areas.

“Though a challenge, let’s use this opportunity to redesign our drainage system and if need be relocate our people to safer areas. We also call on citizens to only obtain land through the laid down procedures and ensure that you abide by the processes for obtaining planning authority,” he said.

President Hichilema said relevant bodies such as Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) among others should work in unison and ensure that such challenges were fixed.

“Ultimately the lasting solution lies in proper city planning,” he said.
