Super League: Coach Mutapa warns NAPSA ahead of ‘battle of brothers’

NAPSA Stars coach, Perry Mutapa, has cautioned his team against complacency and urged them to focus on the games ahead.

This is after the Stars beat Prison Leopards and Red Arrows in the last two games.

Mutapa has therefore encouraged the team to focus on the remaining games of the MTN/FAZ Super League.

Mutapa said the 4-1 and 3-1 wins over Prison Leopards and Red Arrows were in the past, hence the need for players to focus on the games ahead.

He said the game against Nkwazi would not be easy because the Zambia Police-sponsored outfit are motivated having held Power Dynamos to a 1-1 stalemate in their last fixture.

“The game against Arrows is done and dusted and now we have to work for the Nkwazi game because if we won’t, they will surprise us. We have to ensure that we do better in the second round,” Mutapa said in an interview in Lusaka on Saturday.

Napsa Stars will face Nkwazi in their next fixture which will relaunch the battle of the brothers Perry and Osward Mutapa who was unveiled as Nkwazi FC head coach two weeks ago.

While Nkwazi, who are on 17th on the Super League table with 18 points will be looking for maximum points to escape the relegation zone, the Pensioners who are ninth with 24 points will fight for a win to move close to the top four bracket on the Super League table.

Mutapa said it had never been easy for him to play against his elder brother Oswald because he always gave him tough competition.

“It is difficult to play against my brother, we grew up together and we discuss football matters together so it has not been easy. In the few games we have met, the results have ended in draws and that is never even planned.

“There is a time when he was with National Assembly and I was with Lusaka Dynamos. His team had already confirmed relegation and my team needed to win to confirm our survival, he gave us a tough test and we drew that match, luckily we survived owing to other results, so you could see that with us, it’s always business as usual,” he said.

Asked about the injury of Captain Luka Banda who limped out of the Arrows game due to a knock, Mutapa said; “Luka is such a great character, he refused to rest and this is the type of spirit we want in football.”
