Zambia is among the countries participating at the ongoing 17th edition of Meetings Africa currently going on in South Africa.

Eleven Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) suppliers from Zambia under the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) are among the participants at the Meetings.

Other notable exhibitors that are participating at the event are the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, Proflight Zambia, Mulungushi Village Complex Limited, Wonderful Tours Zambia, and the Mukuni Big 5 Safaris Limited.

Meetings Africa is a huge business platform that brings together exhibitors from various African countries and beyond, showcasing their products and services, says ZTA Tourism Promotion Manager Chibesa Ruth Kambalakoko.

“Zambia’s participation at such conferences is important because it gives an opportunity to share knowledge, create cross-border tourism relations, and help improve policies for better functioning of the tourism sector, and encourages partnerships and promotes collaboration,” Kambalakoko said on the side-lines of the event on Wednesday.

She said the Zambia Tourism Agency, with its co-exhibitors, was available for a networking session with all Meetings Africa attendees to share experiences and knowledge on tourism.

Kambalakoko said Zambia had a comparative advantage to other countries because it had become a destination of choice for Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in the tourism sector.

She pointed out Zambia’s massive tourism destination sites which had continued to attract a lot of tourists and the conducive business environment currently prevailing.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, Inonge Mwenya, said she was happy that Zambian companies were participating at the Meetings Africa 2023 Conference.

This, she said, would enable them to interact with other players and prospective clients in the sector.

“Such engagements are key to national development as they provide a vital platform for networking and sharing experiences from the tourism sector adding that the Meetings Africa 2023 Conference plays a key role in exploring tourism opportunities in Zambia.

“Meetings Africa exists to provide a platform for exhibitors to showcase their products and services to international and local buyers, African associations and corporate planners. It is the most formidable platform on the continent for face-to-face engagements with the most influential buyers in the world, and to be part of Africa’s growth,” Mwenya said.

The conference, which is taking place at Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, has attracted 352 exhibitors from 22 African countries and 375 buyers from over 60 countries.
