Green Buffaloes Ladies Volleyball Club have been crowned champions of the 2025 Zone Six Senior Women’s Championship, capping a dominant run that saw them outclass opponents from across Southern Africa.
The Buffaloes swept aside every club they faced from the group stages to the final, beating teams from Eswatini, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Nicknamed the Buttah Girls, Green Buffaloes cruised through the group stages with a record of five wins from five matches to finish as group winners.
The Coach Mazumbo-led side, who settled for bronze last season, signalled their title ambitions early by defeating Wolves Aces of Malawi 3-1 in the round of 16.
The reigning four-time Zambia Women’s Volleyball Champions maintained their momentum in the knockout stages, recording emphatic 3-0 victories over local rivals Ndola Falcons in the quarter-finals and Spiking Stars in the semi-finals.

They capped a pitch-perfect campaign with a 3-1 victory over Prison Leopards in the final to claim the Zone Six title for the first time in the club’s history, earning the status of Southern Africa’s champions.
Meanwhile, Green Buffaloes’ men’s team settled for bronze after a convincing 3-0 win over Zimbabwe’s Black Rhinos.
The Buttah Girls also dominated the individual awards, with Sikalundu Malawo named Best Libero for the second consecutive year, Annie Hamooya winning Best Setter, Isabel Mudenda scooping Best Blocker, and Alice Nankambarecognised as Best Opposite Attacker.
Lydia Nabutola was crowned Most Valuable Player (MVP) and also finished as the second-best hitter of the tournament.
In the men’s category, Muyunda Muyunda was named second-best middle blocker, while Mwenya Brighton earned recognition as second-best attacker.
