Paramount Chief Chitimukulu has warned that many current lawmakers were out of touch with reality, arguing that they rarely consult their constituents.
According to reports monitored from Kasama’s Catholic-sponsored Lutanda Radio on Wednesday, the traditional leader expressed concern over the widening gap between parliamentarians and the people who elected them.

“The current parliamentarians do not visit electorates to consult with them on what they should talk about in Parliament, and they don’t come back to the voters to inform them what they spoke in Parliament,” he said.
Chitimukulu expressed disappointment at the failure of some lawmakers to engage meaningfully with their voters, saying it undermined the principles of representative democracy.
He made the remarks during a courtesy call by United Party for National Development (UPND) Secretary General, Batuke Imenda.
