The Lusaka High Court has summoned Lusaka City Council fire investigator, Lawrence Muntanga, to testify in a case in which former Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Gary Nkombo, is suing Patriots for Economic Progress (PEP) president, Sean Tembo, for K40 million in damages over alleged defamation.

The lawsuit stems from Tembo’s accusation that Nkombo was involved in an arson attack on the Lilayi property of Mambilima Member of Parliament, Jean Chisenga, on May 20, 2024.

According to court documents, Judge Charles Zulu issued a subpoena ad testificandum and subpoena duces tecum, directing Muntanga to appear before the court to give evidence on the incident and to produce the fire incident report for the residential property at Plot No. 14765/M/CL in Lilayi, Chilanga District.

The order, dated July 25, also requires Muntanga to present any related documentation on behalf of the plaintiff.

The trial is set to resume on September 3.
