The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has formally charged and arrested five notorious drug traffickers in Copperbelt and Central Provinces.
Those arrested include George Muzoka, 36, apprehended in Chingola District, Copperbelt Province.
According to a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday by DEC Deputy Public Relations Officer, Theresa Mawere, Muzoka faces charges of trafficking in compressed cannabis weighing 30.5 kilogrammes.

Also arrested is Alison Taulo, 49, in connection with trafficking 1.8 kilogrammes of cannabis in Musonda Village, Luano District, Central Province.
In a separate operation in Lukanta Village, Luano District, the Commission arrested Violence Mumba, 69, and Felinda Mumba, 51, over 1.2 kilogrammes of loose cannabis.
Meanwhile, in Kamushanga community, Kabwe District, Central Province, Richard Walubita, 24, was arrested for trafficking 1.5 kilogrammes of cannabis.
Mawere warned the public about the dangers of cannabis abuse, saying:
“Members of the public may wish to note that cannabis contains potent substances which when abused, can cause life-threatening conditions which include cancer and psychotic conditions.”
