Goalkeeping error hands PSG commanding 5-2 win over Chelsea in Champions League clash

Chelsea suffered a costly late collapse as Paris St‑Germain ran out 5-2 winners at Parc des Princesin the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, leaving the Premier League side with a three-goal deficit ahead of next week’s return at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had fought back to 2-2 after falling behind early, but a mistake by goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen – a pass straight to PSG’s Bradley Barcola – allowed Vitinha to lob the out-of-position keeper and restore the European champions’ lead.

In a match reported by the BBC, substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia then capped a brilliant night for PSG with a curling strike from the edge of the box before adding a side-footed finish in stoppage time to make it 5-2.

Chelsea had begun strongly despite conceding inside 10 minutes. Barcola opened the scoring with a powerful finish following a cross from Ousmane Dembele. Chelsea equalised when Malo Gusto slotted past PSG keeper Matvei Safonov, set up by Enzo Fernandez.

Dembele restored PSG’s lead shortly after when he outran Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana to side-foot home. Chelsea responded when PSG’s Desire Doue lost possession to Neto, whose low cross was converted by Fernandez to level the match.

PSG manager Luis Enrique replaced Doue with Kvaratskhelia in the second half, a move that proved decisive. Chelsea will now face a daunting task to overturn the three-goal deficit when the second leg takes place at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
