Residents of Kalulushi District on Thursday woke up to a rude shock after discovering the lifeless body of a Grizzly Mine employee within his yard.
Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, Mwala Yuyi, said in a statement that Michael Nandi Chilufya, a manager at Grizzly Mine, was found lying dead in his flowerbed.
He said a friend to the deceased reported the matter to police after receiving a call from one of Chilufya’s relatives in Lusaka, who became concerned when he did not answer her calls.
“The relative then instructed the friend to quickly rush to the deceased’s compound and check on him, and when the reporter reached the deceased’s compound, he found him lying lifeless in a flowerbed,” Yuyi said.
The friend immediately rushed to Kalulushi Police Station to report the matter.
Yuyi said a team of crime officers, together with Kalulushi Public Health Officers, went to the scene and found the deceased lying in the flowerbed.

“Investigations which were conducted on first sight revealed that the kitchen door was widely opened, security camera removed, bedroom door damaged, drawers opened confirming that they were searching for something. It is also suspected that criminals have stolen three motor vehicles with values yet to be ascertained,” he said.
He added that suspects were yet to be identified and investigations are ongoing.
“The Zambia Police Service in pursuit of justice wishes to call upon community members with clues that may help in getting hold of the suspects to come aboard through normal channels of communication. Together we can make our communities safe and sound,” he said.
Yuyi further cautioned would-be offenders, saying police will ensure perpetrators face the full force of the law.
