Skipper Bruno Guimarães got Newcastle United out of jail with a 90th-minute winner to hand the Magpies a dramatic 2-1 victory and extend Fulham’s Premier League losing streak to four games.
The Brazil international, who had earlier wasted a glorious opportunity, followed up after goalkeeper Bernd Leno had saved substitute Will Osula’s shot to snatch the win in front of 52,125 fans at St James’ Park.

In a match reported by ESPN, Jacob Murphy had given Eddie Howe’s men a first-half lead, but they failed to build on it and were punished 11 minutes after the restart when Sasa Lukic levelled, setting up a tense finale in which Guimarães ultimately had the final say.
Anthony Gordon continued his fine form from Tuesday’s 3-0 Champions League victory over Benfica, drawing a third-minute foul from full-back Kenny Tete that earned an early booking and a free kick.
From it, Nick Woltemade fired against Bernd Leno’s right post after Malick Thiaw’s header had been blocked.
Murphy struck the keeper’s left upright from a tight angle three minutes later, with Fulham living dangerously amid Newcastle’s early assault.
Raúl Jiménez responded for the visitors in the 13th minute, seeing his shot deflected wide after turning Dan Burn inside the box following Ryan Sessegnon’s cross from an Alex Iwobi through-ball.
Fulham began to grow in confidence, but their momentum was halted after 18 minutes when Murphy dispossessed Calvin Bassey just inside his own half, raced clear, and steered the ball across Leno and in off the far post.
Newcastle keeper Nick Pope later breathed a sigh of relief when Adama Traoré drove across goal after Pope had parried Sander Berge’s long-range attempt, with the hosts taking unnecessary risks deep in their own half.
It could have been 2-0 six minutes before the break when Gordon set up Murphy with a fine first-time pass, but Leno denied him. Pope then had to save from Emile Smith Rowe after Berge intercepted Sven Botman’s loose ball out of defence.
Fulham drew level in the 56th minute when Iwobi found half-time substitute Kevin on the left. Raul Jiménez’s shot from the resulting cross hit the bar, and Lukic headed the rebound past the stranded Pope—colliding with Botman in the process.
Howe reacted by bringing on Fabian Schär, Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes for Botman, Lewis Miley and Murphy.
Newcastle should have retaken the lead within seven minutes when Gordon combined with Woltemade before crossing to Guimarães, who missed the target with a free header.
Guimarães went close again moments later, dragging his shot wide before Sessegnon blocked Anthony Elanga’s effort and Leno saved Tonali’s follow-up. Joelinton headed into the side-netting before Leno once again denied Tonali with a fine stop.
However, Fulham’s resistance finally broke at the death when Osula burst forward after Sessegnon lost possession.
Although Leno blocked his attempt, Guimarães reacted quickest to slot home the winner.
