Kasama police probe death of 57-year-old man found decomposed in forest

Police in Kasama have launched an inquiry into the death of a 57-year-old man, Kennedy Sikazwe, whose body was discovered in a decomposed state.

Northern Province Police Commanding Officer, Lucky Munkhondya, said in a statement on Wednesday that the sudden and unnatural death occurred between August 12 and August 26, 2025, at an unknown time in Forest P47, near the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) houses in Kasama.

“It was reported on August 26, 2025, at 15:17 hours by Brian Milumbo, aged 39, of Mukulumpe Compound in Kasama, that he discovered a decomposed body of an unidentified male, believed to be aged between 40 and 45,” Munkhondya said.

She added that the body was later identified as that of Kennedy Sikazwe, 57, of Kungu Village, who had earlier been reported missing on August 24, 2025, around 08:00 hours, by his younger brother Lawrence Singongo, aged 54, of the same village.

Police say an inquiry file has been opened into the matter.
