The Kitwe City Council has with immediate effect shut down the operations of Praise Xin Casino, Restaurant and Guesthouse after inspectors uncovered a series of serious public health violations.
Council Public Relations Manager, Mwaka Nakweti, said in a statement on Friday that the closure followed an inspection carried out on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, which confirmed multiple health and safety breaches.
“The action was taken after the Local Authority received a tip-off that the said business establishment was discharging raw sewage onto the road reserve,” Nakweti stated.
She said the Council’s Public Health Department found several violations, including operating without the required compliance documents, backflow of sewage from the inspection chamber into food preparation and dishwashing areas, and defective, exposed electrical cables that posed safety risks to employees.
Inspectors also noted other sanitary and structural deficiencies.
Following the findings, the Council has issued recommendations to the proprietors, detailing corrective measures that must be implemented immediately before the establishment can be cleared to resume operations.
Kitwe’s public health standards,” she said.

“The Local Authority wishes to emphasize that Praise Xin Casino, Restaurant, and Guesthouse has contravened the provisions of the Public Health Act, Chapter 295, the Food Safety Act No. 7 of 2019, and the Solid Waste Regulation and Management Act No. 20 of 2018 of the Laws of Zambia, among other related regulations,” she said.
Nakweti reminded all business operators to maintain high hygiene standards and comply fully with public health and safety requirements.
“Protecting the well-being of residents and ensuring a clean, healthy city is a shared responsibility, and every establishment must play its part in upholding the law and preserving Kitwe’s public health standards,” she said.
