A new political alliance dubbed the “We Are One Zambia Alliance (WOZA) 4th Republic” has been launched, naming Kapembwa Simbao, leader of the Zambia We Want movement, as its presidential candidate, with Yusuf Dodia appointed as his running mate.
The alliance also announced its full leadership structure and adopted governance and economic reform frameworks during a convention its leaders described as transparent, inclusive and reflective of grassroots participation.
Speaking during a media briefing at Mkango Golfview Hotel in Lusaka on Thursday, Dodia said the alliance would prioritise strengthening Zambian-owned industries, boosting domestic production and accelerating industrial growth.
He noted that Zambia’s vast mineral resources, water bodies, forests and agricultural land provided a strong foundation for economic expansion, while the country’s strategic location—bordering eight nations—offered immense opportunities for trade in goods and services such as agriculture, education and healthcare.
However, he cautioned that Zambia was failing to fully capitalise on these advantages due to capital flight, illicit financial flows and persistent brain drain.
“A well-functioning free-market economy requires government support to enable businesses to grow, compete and contribute to national development through taxation,” Dodia said.

“A strong national development agenda, designed and driven by Zambians, is key to achieving prosperity for all,” he said.
He further called for improved infrastructure—particularly rail transport—and greater investment in education and healthcare to reduce the cost of doing business.

Alliance president Simbao echoed the need for integrity-driven leadership, saying many Zambians had lost trust in politicians due to unfulfilled promises and lack of accountability.
“People are asking why they should believe in us, whether we will be different, and whether we will listen to them,” he said.
“Leadership must be judged by character, track record and the ability to deliver meaningful change,” Simbao said.
He pledged that the alliance would offer leadership that listens to citizens, responds to their needs and creates opportunities for better livelihoods.
Meanwhile, Alliance Chairperson Sikota said the leadership selection process was deliberately designed to avoid imposition of candidates.
