The Patriotic Front’s much-anticipated elective general conference has been thrown into uncertainty after the Kabwe High Court granted an injunction restraining the faction led by acting president Given Lubinda from operating from the party secretariat.
The injunction, issued on November 12, 2025, by High Court Judge Kelvin Limbani, follows an application by another PF faction led by Morgan Ng’ona, who is suing as a member and secretary general of the party.
In his order, Judge Limbani directed Lubinda’s group to immediately vacate the Patriotic Front Secretariat and cease using the party’s materials, including letterheads, receipts, and other documents, until the matter is fully determined.

The order also restrains the Lubinda-led faction from holding meetings, press conferences, or issuing statements in the name of the Patriotic Front, as well as from announcing the roadmap for the planned elective general conference that was expected to take place next month.
The development deepens the leadership dispute that has split Zambia’s former ruling party into rival camps, each claiming legitimacy to lead the PF and organise its long-awaited internal elections.
Judge Limbani has set December 3, 2025, for an inter partes hearing of the matter, during which both factions will have an opportunity to argue their positions before the court.
The injunction adds yet another layer of complexity to the ongoing power struggle within the PF, which has been marked by competing claims to the presidency and conflicting plans for a party convention.
