ZNBC Board Chairperson, Joseph Kazhila, has vowed that the national broadcaster would not feature news sources with divisive intentions.

Kazhila who is a presiding Bishop at Life Gospel Cathedral in Chingola made the remarks during a church service organised by Kitwe Pastors Fellowship in Kitwe on Wednesday to celebrate his ascendance to the position of ZNBC board chairperson.

He stressed that while ZNBC would provide news coverage to people with divergent views, that would not be done at the expense of preaching division and tribal sentiments that are meant to divide the country.

“Under my stewardship, ZNBC will provide coverage to every one but not at the expense of promoting division in the country, ” Kazhila told a congression of the clergy who were drawn from all Copperbelt towns .

He also revealed that it pained him to see the amount of mud-slinging being thrown at President Hakainde Hichilema.

“The hatred and bitterness towards President Hichilema is a matter of concern, let us stop this hate and embrace oneness in this country,” Kazhila stated amid nodding from the audience which included Copperbelt Minister Elias Matambo.

Matambo said the elevation of Bishop Kazhila to the chairperson of the ZNBC board was a testament of confidence government had in the church to contribute to national development.

“Bishop Kazhila should help in bringing programmes that promote morality at ZNBC, ” he said.

Kazhila was recently appointed to head the board of directors of ZNBC after the sacking of Jack Kalala as board chairperson by former Information and Media Minsiter Chushi Kasanda about a month ago.
