Liquid Intelligent Technologies has launched a new digital platform aimed at empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Zambia with affordable, efficient, and easily accessible technology solutions to enhance business operations and competitiveness.

Speaking during the media launch in Lusaka on Thursday, Liquid Intelligent Technologies Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mwendamo Mazaba, described the initiative as a major milestone in the company’s mission to bridge the digital divide and accelerate Zambia’s economic growth through innovation.

“This is an important milestone for us and a very proud moment to be launching the Liquid SME Portal,” Mazaba said.

He said: “It’s a bundle of digital solutions designed specifically for the SME market, allowing customers to access our products and services at the press of a button.”

Mazaba noted that SMEs were the backbone of Zambia’s economy, contributing about 70 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employing more than 80 percent of the workforce.

“SMEs are truly the engine of growth,” he said.

Mazaba added: “In many countries, over 97 percent of all businesses fall within the SME category, which shows just how critical this segment is to economic development.”

He explained that despite their importance, many small businesses faced challenges in adopting digital tools due to high costs or lack of knowledge on suitable solutions.

“Our new platform provides solutions that are simple to use, easily accessible, and affordable for SME customers,” Mazaba said.

“Starting today, an SME no longer needs an expensive IT department to access fast internet or modern digital tools. With just a few clicks, they can sign up and get started,” he said.

The platform allows businesses to access high-speed internet, Microsoft productivity tools, and website hosting services that help enhance communication, operational efficiency, and market visibility.

“For example, a café or restaurant can use the platform to create a professional business email, develop a website, and manage online orders,” Mazaba added.

He said: “This improves their digital presence, expands their market reach, and helps them grow sustainably.”

Mazaba reaffirmed Liquid’s broader vision of fostering innovation and resilience within Zambia’s business community.

“This launch builds on our achievements, including the rollout of public Wi-Fi, the establishment of our Cybersecurity Operations Centre, and partnerships with global technology firms,” he said.

Mazaba said: “The SME Portal will make operations more efficient, secure, and scalable, helping businesses thrive in a digital economy.”

Adding to this, Liquid Intelligent Technologies Chief Business Officer, Mirriam Ngala, said the company recognized SMEs as the country’s “engine for national growth” and remained committed to ensuring their inclusion in the digital transformation agenda.

“As you know, we have diversified to provide a wide range of smart solutions for our customers,” Ngala said.

“Over time, we have expanded extensively across different markets, including the retail sector, and have seen the growing importance of small enterprise industries,” she said.

Ngala emphasised that Liquid’s focus was not only on providing technology but also on helping small businesses appreciate and utilise digital tools effectively.

“What we would like to do differently is to bring insights to help small and medium enterprises appreciate our solutions in the most effective way,” she explained.

She said: “For us, SMEs are a national priority because they are the real engine of economic growth.”

Ngala further stated that the company’s goal was to make digital transformation inclusive and convenient for every business owner.

“We want to make sure that as businesses collaborate and operate, it’s very convenient and efficient for them,” she said.

“Our contribution to the country is to make sure that the ease of digital transformation, even for small businesses, is not the exception,” Ngala said.
