Liverpool secured a commanding 3–0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.

The Reds went into the tie aiming to gain momentum amid a mixed league campaign, with manager Arne Slot eager to keep Liverpool’s silverware hopes alive, while Brighton travelled north knowing a cup upset would have lifted morale during a tough run of form.

Brighton started the game with plenty of energy and looked competitive in the early exchanges, pressing Liverpool’s defence and trying to exploit spaces down the flanks, but found clear openings difficult to create against the structured hosts.

According to Sky Sports, Liverpool grew into the contest and broke the deadlock just before half-time as Curtis Jones netted in the 42nd minute, capitalising on a sustained Reds move to give his side the lead and ease Anfield nerves.

After the break, Liverpool’s momentum continued with Dominik Szoboszlai doubling the lead in the 56th minute with an emphatic finish from inside the box,

Brighton’s frustration grew as Liverpool kept the pressure high, and a penalty was awarded in the 68th minute when Salah was brought down in the area.

The Egyptian forward stepped up and coolly converted from the spot, wrapping up the scoring and putting the result beyond doubt.

In the closing stages, Brighton didn’t stop trying but lacked precision in the final third, while Liverpool managed the game expertly and saw out the victory with confidence.

The win sends Liverpool into the FA Cup fifth round with momentum and belief.
