Newcastle United claimed a dramatic 2–1 victory over Manchester United at St James’ Park, with substitute William Osula scoring a spectacular late winner to seal the three points in a gripping Premier League encounter.

Manchester United arrived third in the Premier League table and unbeaten under interim manager Michael Carrick, while Newcastle entered the match sitting mid-table and looking to bounce back after a difficult run of home results.

The game began cautiously with both sides testing each other’s defensive lines, but Newcastle looked the more dangerous early on with quick attacks down the flanks and energetic pressing.

Drama unfolded just before half-time when Jacob Ramsey was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving Newcastle with ten men and seemingly handing momentum to Manchester United.

Moments later, however, Newcastle were awarded a penalty after Bruno Fernandes fouled Anthony Gordon, and Gordon calmly converted from the spot in stoppage time to put the hosts ahead.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United responded almost immediately as Casemiro headed in Fernandes’ free-kick deep into first-half stoppage time.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Newcastle defended resolutely in the second half and remained dangerous on the counterattack, forcing United to work hard for clear chances.

The decisive moment arrived in the 90th minute when substitute William Osula cut inside and curled a brilliant strike into the far corner.

The result ends Carrick’s unbeaten run as Manchester United manager and keeps the Red Devils third in the table, while Newcastle climb to 12th place.
