Chairman of the Ghanaian Community in Zambia, Aidoo William, has urged filmmakers in both Zambia and Ghana to use film as a tool for promoting cultural exchange and skills development between the two countries.
Aidoo noted that, in the past, Zambians were sent to Ghana to learn filmmaking which he hoped would continue but stopped.
He made these remarks in an interview with Zambia Monitor during a screening of the Ghanaian film ‘The Fisherman’ at Ster-Kinekor Cinemas at Manda Hill, Lusaka.
“We want this exchange of filmmaking skills to continue and expand, including having Ghanaians come to learn filmmaking and storytelling the Zambian way,” he added.

Meanwhile, Joe Sakala, popularly known for his role as ‘Jairos’ in Mpali, stated that for such an exchange to be effective, Zambian filmmakers must unite and collaborate on a single project capable of transforming the country’s film trajectory.
“The Zambian film industry has grown, and it is now easier than ever for local filmmakers to come together and produce a film,” he said.
