Ba Matero scoops six awards, drives away in brand-new Toyota Hilux

It was a night of history, laughter, and triumph as comedian Francis Nyundwe, popularly known as Ba Matero, stole the spotlight at the Zamtel Social Media Awards on Saturday.

In a jaw-dropping moment, the comic not only swept all six categories he was nominated in but also drove away in a brand-new 2024 Toyota Hilux — the grand prize for the event.

Ba Matero’s victories, valued at over K125,000 in awards and prizes, left fans and fellow creatives in awe.

Taking to his official Facebook page after the ceremony, the comedian expressed gratitude for the milestone:

“First I want to thank God for making me reach here, it was not easy to be nominated at the Zamtel Social Media Awards 2024–2025.

“I tried my best and was nominated in six categories. I have managed to grab all six awards in one night, including the BRAND NEW HILUX 2024. Thank you for the love and support. This is for you my fans — I love you all. Let’s make a living through content creation; together we can take Zambia out there and make it known through our art.”

Fellow artiste and musician B-Flow joined in the celebrations, describing the achievement as inspirational.

“GOD can change your life in one day. The award for Content Creator of the Year goes to Ba Matero. He has won the grand prize (Zamtel Incorporated Best Content Creator).

A brand-new 2024 Toyota Hilux straight from the showroom has been given to him. Ndipo bayalumpa ma awards aya! What an emotional and inspirational moment.

“Congratulations Ba Matero. Well deserved!” he wrote on Facebook.
Ba Matero’s clean sweep cements his place as one of Zambia’s most influential digital entertainers, marking a turning point in the recognition of comedy and content creation as serious, impactful art.
