Chelsea throw away two-goal lead in Stamford Bridge stalemate against Leeds

Chelsea had to settle for a 2–2 draw with Leeds United in a dramatic Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge after surrendering a two-goal advantage on Tuesday.

The Blues came into the match looking to strengthen their push for Champions League qualification, sitting close to the top-four places, while Leeds United arrived keen to protect their mid-table position and extend a valuable gap from the relegation zone.

In a match reported by Sky Sports, Chelsea dominated the early proceedings, moving the ball with purpose and probing down both flanks.

Their control paid off when João Pedro opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a composed finish after good build-up play.

The Blues continued to press and were handed a penalty early in the second half after João Pedro was brought down in the box; Cole Palmer stepped up to coolly convert from the spot in the 58th minute to make it 2–0.

However, the tide turned after Leeds found their rhythm when Chelsea’s concentration wavered and Lukas Nmecha pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 67th minute after Caicedo was penalised for a foul in the area.

Just six minutes later, Leeds completed their comeback when Noah Okafor reacted quickest in a crowded box to slot home and level the match at 2–2, much to the delight of the travelling supporters.

Chelsea had opportunities to retake the lead late on, including a glaring chance for Palmer from close range, but they could not convert, and the contest finished all square despite their early dominance.

The draw saw Chelsea drop two valuable points in their bid for a top-four finish, leaving them just outside the Champions League places.
