Police in Lusaka have arrested a Chinese national, Lui Zhongya, aged 47, of Runkai Investment in Makeni, in connection with a case of indecent assault on females, contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Wednesday, following a report made on October 13, 2025, by Grace Nanyiza, aged 21, of Salima Road in Matero.

Hamoonga said Nanyiza alleged that she was indecently assaulted by her employer on October 8, 2025, around 13:00 hours at his residence along Chipwenupwenu Road in Makeni.

Brief police facts indicate that on the material day, the victim was instructed by her employer to report to his house for work.

“After working with her colleagues until lunchtime, the suspect took her out for lunch and later asked her to assist the maid with house chores,” Hamoonga said.

He stated that Lui later sent the maid and the driver back to the warehouse, leaving the victim alone with him.

“While in the house, the suspect called the victim to the bedroom under the pretext of collecting a mosquito coil plate. She was startled to find Lui behind her with his trousers down. He then allegedly held her hand, pushed her onto the bed, and indecently touched her,” he said.

Hamoonga said the ordeal was interrupted when the company driver hooted at the gate, prompting the victim to push the suspect away and flee from the bedroom.

After confiding in a colleague, it was revealed that the same suspect had allegedly indecently assaulted another female employee previously.

“The matter was subsequently reported to the Police and following investigations, the suspect was apprehended and formally charged with Indecent Assault on Females,” Hamoonga said.

He added that Lui is currently in police custody and will appear in court soon.

Hamoonga condemned all forms of sexual violence and exploitation in workplaces, urging the public—especially employees—to report any acts of abuse or harassment without fear or delay.
