Davido’s appearance at purported Lusaka concert in doubt, as award-winning artiste alleges breach of agreement by organizers

Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) has issued a stern warning to the organizers of a planned concert in Zambia scheduled for December 20, 2025, citing non-payment of agreed performance fees.

The announcement was made through a statement by Fawehinmi “Foza” Oyinkansola, Head of Legal at DMW.

According to the statement, under the terms of the agreement, full payment for the performance was originally due by October 31, 2025.

Following a request from the organizers, DMW reportedly agreed to accept payment in six installments, with a final deadline of November 28, 2025.

However, as of the date of the statement, neither full payment nor satisfactory proof of the installments had been received.

The legal notice highlights that despite the outstanding payments, tickets for the event have already been sold and the artist is being actively promoted.

“Our client will not permit his name, image, or brand to be used to market or underwrite an event that is not properly funded or that exposes his fans to financial and reputational risk,” the statement said.

The organizers have been given a strict 24-hour deadline to either remit the outstanding funds in full or issue a public statement cancelling the event and initiating refunds to ticket holders.

Failure to comply, DMW warns, could result in Davido formally withdrawing from the event, issuing his own public statement to distance himself from the organizers, and pursuing legal action for damages, loss of profits, and reputational harm.

“This is a clear breach of contractual obligations, and our client reserves all rights to protect his reputation and the interests of his fans,” Oyinkansola stated.

The announcement has raised concerns among ticket holders and the local music community, many of whom are now seeking clarification on the status of the highly anticipated concert.
