Yango Zambia, part of the global tech company Yango Group, has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women through digital mobility, safety-driven technology, and inclusive innovation during the 2025 Women in Digital Gathering held in Lusaka.
Through partner driver recruitment drives, digital literacy support and collaborations with local organizations that promote women’s entrepreneurship and tech inclusion Yango aims to support women digital inclusion in Zambia.
The company highlighted how digital mobility continues to play a crucial role in enabling women to access economic and educational opportunities through programs like the Yango Fellowship and Urban Mobility Hackathons.
The gathering was hosted by Techtrends Zambia, supported by The UNDP on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025 at the Urban Hotel in Lusaka.
During the event, Yango Zambia Country Head, Kabanda Chewe participated as one of the panelists on the topic “Women-Led SMEs & Startup Innovation”, sharing insights on how a tech platform such as Yango, can help to unlock new pathways for women in Zambia’s evolving digital economy.
She noted that mobility remains a foundational enabler, allowing women to move, work, learn and participate fully in digital and economic spaces.
Speaking during the panel discussion, Kabanda Chewe, Yango Zambia Country Head, said:

When women can move safely, affordably and independently, they unlock their own economic potential and this benefits families, communities and the entire country. Speaking at the event, Laurent Rudasingwa, UNDP Zambia’s Deputy Resident Representative, highlighted the importance of digital access for women.
During his keynote speech, he said: “Digital transformation is no longer a luxury — it is essential for inclusive development. When women have access to digital tools and safe, reliable platforms, they can participate more confidently in work, education, markets and public services. Bridging this gap strengthens families, communities and the entire country.”
The Women in Digital Gathering brought in founders, innovators, policy, policymakers, financiers and ecosystem leaders to explore how Africa’s digital transformation can become more inclusive.
Yango Zambia’s participation underscores its commitment to contributing meaningfully to Zambia’s digital growth and ensuring that women remain central to the country’s evolving mobility and technology landscape.
