Disciplined Forest hold Arsenal to goalless draw at the City ground

Nottingham Forest held Arsenal to a goalless draw in a tightly contested Premier League encounter at the City Ground, frustrating the league leaders with a disciplined and well-organised display.

Arsenal arrived in Nottingham sitting top of the Premier League table, chasing another win to extend their lead, while Forest began the day hovering just above the relegation zone, in need of points to ease pressure at the bottom.

The visitors dominated possession from the opening minutes, circulating the ball patiently and pushing Forest deep into their own half, reports SkySport News.

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli were lively on the flanks, but clear chances were limited by Forest’s compact defensive shape.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels was alert when called upon, producing a key save to deny Arsenal as the hosts reached half-time level.

The second half followed Mikel Arteta introducing attacking substitutes in search of a breakthrough, while Forest continued to rely on numbers behind the ball and quick clearances.

A moment of controversy arrived when Arsenal appealed for a penalty after a ball struck a Forest defender in the area, but the referee waved play on after consultation, adding to the Gunners’ frustration as the match remained scoreless.

The draw leaves Arsenal still top of the table, though their advantage is trimmed as rivals close in, while missed chances proved costly in their title push.
