The Electoral Commission of Zambia has resolved to hold a fresh Parliamentary election for Mandevu Constituency in Lusaka District following a security incident that disrupted the aggregation of results.

ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, Brown Kasaro, said the decision follows an official report dated August 18, 2026 from the Lusaka District Electoral Officer.

“According to the report, unknown individuals attacked the totalling centre in Mandevu Constituency after the General Elections held on August 13, 2026,” Kasaro said in a statement issued in Lusaka on Friday.

He added that they destroyed result transmission kits and fled with all documentation, leaving the returning officer unable to declare the National Assembly election results.

“In view of this, the Commission has resolved to hold a by-election for Mandevu Constituency on a date to be communicated in due course,” Kasaro said.

Mandevu is one of the key constituencies in Lusaka Province and was part of the August 13 general polls.
