Energy Regulation Board raises fuel prices for December as global oil costs surge

0

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has increased fuel pump prices for December 2025, citing higher international oil prices and the depreciation of the Kwacha since the last fuel price review on 31st October 2025.

In a statement issued on Sunday, ERB Board Chairperson, James Banda, said the adjustments were necessary to align domestic prices with global market movements and the prevailing exchange rate.

He noted that Zambia’s import bill had come under additional pressure in recent weeks.

The Board has also revised the Posted Airfield Prices (PAP) for Jet A-1 at international airports.

Mfuwe International Airport will sell the product at K29.75 per litre, the highest among the airports, while Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (SMKIA) will sell at K27.32.

Kenneth Kaunda (KKIA) and Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula international airports (HMKIA) will both maintain a price of K26.51 per litre.

When converted to United States dollars at an exchange rate of K22.82 per US dollar, the PAP stands at US$1.16 per litre at KKIA and HMKIA, US$1.30 at Mfuwe, and US$1.20 at SMKIA.

Banda said the new prices take effect at midnight on 30th November 2025 and will remain in force until the next review.

He added that the detailed wholesale and pump price build-up for December has been made available on the ERB website.
