The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has claimed to have disbursed K602 million in the past week to all 156 constituencies across Zambia through their respective local authorities.
Each constituency received an average of K4 million, Ministry Permanent Secretary for Administration, Dr. Gabriel Pollen, announced at a media briefing in Lusaka on Friday.
He said the latest release brings the total Constituency Development Fund (CDF) disbursed from January to date for the 2025 financial year to K3,070,014,055.58.
Pollen emphasised that the CDF remains a cornerstone of decentralised development and community empowerment, enabling citizens to initiate and implement projects that address their unique needs.
He explained that the fund was currently supporting infrastructure projects such as schools, health centres, feeder roads, and water systems, as well as economic empowerment programmes through loans and grants for small-scale entrepreneurs.

“Education support via bursary schemes for vulnerable learners, improved service delivery through procurement of earthmoving equipment and other resources for local authorities,” Pollen added.
He expressed confidence that the fresh disbursement will enhance the capacity of local authorities to deliver meaningful development.
“We are elated to note that a number of developmental projects have already been completed, while others are underway across the country,” Pollen said.
The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed government’s commitment to equitable development, accountability, and citizen participation, stressing that the CDF was key to bridging the rural-urban divide and improving the quality of life for all Zambians.
