Zambia and the United Kingdom (UK) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration across multiple sectors, with particular focus on trade, investment, and the energy sector.

President Hakainde Hichilema said expanding investment in energy was central to securing reliable power for homes and businesses while creating more jobs and opportunities as Zambia’s economy grows.

According to a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Friday, October 3, 2025, Hichilema held what he described as a constructive meeting in London with UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy.

“Our discussions reaffirmed the strength and value of the UK–Zambia partnership,” Hichilema stated.

He said the talks not only focused on economic opportunities but also reflected on global peace and security challenges, including the conflict in Ukraine, stressing that stability remained a vital foundation for development.

“Zambia’s democratic journey and upcoming 2026 elections were also acknowledged as an important marker of our shared values,” he said.
