Nollywood actress and producer, Bimbo Ademoye, has dismissed claims that she uses emotional displays as a strategy to promote her films, describing the allegations as unfair and dismissive of her hard work.

The controversy follows reactions from social media users after the actress shared an emotional video ahead of the release of her latest film on YouTube.

Some critics suggested the display was a calculated move to attract attention and boost viewership.

Responding to the criticism as reported by the African TV culture, Ademoye strongly rejected the notion, questioning why her promotional efforts would be reduced to emotional manipulation.

“Don’t do that. Am I supposed to be battling people over stealing my film title and thumbnail?” she said.

The award-winning actress stressed that such claims undermine the effort, planning, and financial investment that go into her productions.

She explained that her projects involved coordinated professional shoots and dedicated teams who commit significant time and energy.

“I have people who sacrifice their time and energy for me. Nobody sleeps. So you now think the way I would promote my film is to cry?” she added.

Ademoye further revealed that she has faced numerous production challenges behind the scenes, many of which she has chosen to handle privately without seeking public sympathy or attention.

“I am a very strong woman; I don’t need pity,” she said.

The actress maintained that relying on emotional displays as a promotional tool would diminish the value of her work and the integrity of her craft.

She urged critics to be mindful of their assumptions and to recognise the professionalism behind film production.

Her response has sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans defending her stance and others continuing to debate the role of emotional storytelling in film marketing.

Ademoye remains one of Nollywood’s prominent figures, known for her versatility and commitment to delivering high-quality productions in an increasingly competitive industry.
