Immigration Football Club FC arrives South Africa for Pirates Cup 2026

Immigration Football Club (Immig FC), widely known as the Border Eagles, has touched down in Johannesburg to compete in the 2026 Pirates Cup, a major regional tournament hosted by Orlando Pirates Football Club that brings together some of the most promising and established teams from across Southern Africa.

The regional tournament, hosted by Orlando Pirates Football Club, is set to run from April 3 to April 6, 2026.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, Immig FC begins its campaign on Saturday, April 04, 2026, with group stage matches scheduled through April 4, followed by knockout rounds on April 5.

The competition will conclude with semi-final and final matches on April 6.

Participation in the tournament marks a significant milestone for the Zambian side, offering players an opportunity to gain international exposure and compete against high-calibre teams from across the region.

The tournament is also expected to enhance player development, tactical discipline, and team cohesion.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Delegation Leader Dr. Titus Simutulo, representing Patron, Japhet Lishomwa, and Club president, Kennedy Simenda, urged players to uphold discipline, professionalism, and purpose.

He also stressed the importance of proper nutrition and introduced the “Triple S” performance framework—Speed, Stamina, and Skill—as essential to success on the pitch.

Simutulo further reminded the squad of their responsibility to represent both the Department and Zambia with pride and integrity.

The Pirates Cup will feature teams with squads of up to 20 registered players, with 18 eligible per match. Matches will be played in two 30-minute halves with a 10-minute break.

Teams will earn three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss, with top teams advancing to the knockout stages.

Attractive prizes are at stake, with the tournament winners set to receive R120,000, a trophy, and gold medals.

Runners-up will earn R50,000, while the third-placed team will take home R15,000.

Immig FC enters the competition in strong form, currently leading the FAZ Central Province Division Two (Zone A) standings, reflecting the club’s growing reputation within the football landscape.

The Department of Immigration has reaffirmed its full support for the team, highlighting the role of sport in promoting unity, discipline, and overall well-being among officers and the wider community.
