Indus Towers, India’s second-largest telecom infrastructure provider, has announced plans to expand into African markets, with operations set for Zambia, Uganda and Nigeria.
In a statement accessed on Thursday by Zambia Monitor, the company said the move was part of efforts to diversify revenue and scale operations.
The firm will rely on its financial capacity and anchor customer relationship with Bharti Airtel to establish a presence in the three markets.
“As part of its broader growth strategy, the company will continue to evaluate expansion opportunities in other African markets where Airtel has an established presence,” Indus Towers said.

Airtel Africa, which began operations in 2010, currently runs mobile and data connectivity businesses in 15 markets.
Indus Towers, a Bharti Airtel subsidiary, said the international expansion was aimed at positioning the company in Africa’s telecom infrastructure space.
Indus Towers operates 251,773 towers across 22 telecom circles in India, providing passive telecom infrastructure such as tower sites and communication structures.
The company also entered the electric vehicle charging infrastructure segment earlier this year with pilot projects in Gurugram and Bengaluru.
