Morocco’s king Mohammed VI held a series of telephone conversations on Saturday 28 February 2026 with a number of Gulf leaders, in a move reflecting Rabat’s solidarity with what the Royal Cabinet described as “blatant attacks” targeting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of those states.

The calls included Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates; Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain; Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.

A statement from the Royal Cabinet said King Mohammed VI reiterated Morocco’s strong condemnation of what he considered attacks affecting the sovereignty and security of these brotherly countries. He affirmed Rabat’s full support and backing for all legitimate measures these states may deem appropriate to preserve their security and the reassurance of their citizens.

According to the same source, the Moroccan Monarch stressed that the deep-rooted fraternal ties and ongoing solidarity between Morocco and the Gulf countries form the basis of this position. He underlined that the security and stability of the Gulf states are an integral part of Morocco’s own security and stability.

The King described any infringement on the territorial integrity of these states as a “serious and unacceptable aggression,” and a direct threat to stability in the region, the statement added.

The telephone calls come amid a tense regional context and escalating security challenges. Through this outreach, Rabat once again reaffirmed its commitment to solidarity and coordination with its Gulf partners on issues of shared interest.
