KoBold Metals Africa says it has surpassed 100,000 metres of drilling at the Mingomba deposit, reportedly the highest total recorded at the site, marking a key step in its ongoing exploration work with ZCCM-IH.

In a statement released on Saturday, KoBold Metals Africa Chief Executive Officer, Mfikeyi Makayi, said the milestone reflected the pace at which the company was advancing the project.

“In partnership with ZCCM-IH, we have logged yet another new drilling record at Mingomba. The team officially passed the 100,000 metre mark in July this year,” she said.

The statement indicated that the company accelerated drilling programme aimed to build detailed geological knowledge of the resource.

It further stated that the company was using advanced geological modelling and exploration technologies to help define the orebody more precisely.

Analysts say crossing the 100,000-metre threshold provides the large dataset needed to support mine design, engineering decisions and future construction planning.

Makayi said the firm had started assembling members of its mine development team in preparation for the next phase.

She also noted progress at the company’s other regional projects, including deep drilling at Konkola West and additional exploration activities in the Democratic Republic of Congo and southern Namibia.
