Liverpool delivered an exciting and commanding performance as they defeated West Ham United 5–2 in their Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday.
The victory sees the Reds climb to fifth place in the table, keeping pressure on the teams above as the battle for European spots intensifies.
Liverpool set the tone early with a flurry of goals before half-time as Hugo Ekitike opened the scoring inside five minutes, capitalising on Liverpool’s increasing threat from set-pieces.

In a match reported by Sky Sports, Virgil van Dijk then headed home for 2–0 in the 24th minute before Alexis Mac Allister volleyed in a third just before the break, giving the hosts a commanding lead.
West Ham responded in the second half through Tomáš Souček, pulling one back to make it 3–1 but Liverpool restored their three-goal advantage when Cody Gakpo converted in the 70th minute, and the scoring was rounded off with an own goal by Axel Disasi, deflecting a Jeremie Frimpong effort into the net.
West Ham’s Valentín Castellanos also scored to make it 4–2 in the closing stages, but it wasn’t enough to halt the Reds’ momentum.
Liverpool return to league action next week with their eyes set on continuing this strong run, while West Ham face the challenge of securing vital points as they fight to climb out of danger.
